USC Upstate basketball guard Brit Harris was discharged from a Columbia hospital on Saturday after a scary fall during the Spartans’ game against South Carolina.
South Carolina defeated USC Upstate 73-53 at Colonial Life Arena.
The fall occurred on a dunk attempt in the first half. Harris fell after the dunk attempt, landing hard and upper-body first onto the floor.
Harris remained on the floor for several minutes as medical personnel assessed him, then secured him onto a stretcher before exiting the arena and transporting him to Prisma Health Richland Hospital.
USC Upstate reported hours later via social media that Harris was discharged from the hospital and back in Spartanburg.
“We are thankful to report that after evaluation by the fine staff @theprismahealth Richland Hospital, @UpstateMBB Brit Harris has been discharged, is back in Spartanburg and on the road to recovery,” the program tweeted out on Saturday evening. “On behalf of his family and teammates, we appreciate the concern and well wishes expressed for Brit throughout the day.”
The 6-foor-4, 170-pound junior from Gary, Indiana, is a transfer from Grand Valley State who is averaging 11.0 points and 4.1 rebounds per game this season. Harris had four points in Saturday’s game.
