By defeating Indiana on Friday, the USC women’s basketball team advanced to the Big Ten Tournament semifinals. A few hours later, the Trojans learned who their opponent in the next round would be. In the second game of the day in Indianapolis, No. 5 seed Michigan upset No. 4 seed Maryland 98-71. The Wolverines used a 25-0 run in the first half to stun the No. 15 team in the country. With the win, Michigan earned the right to face the top-seeded Trojans tomorrow afternoon.
USC and Michigan met at Galen Center in the Trojans’ Big Ten home opener all the way back on December 29. That night, Juju Watkins introduced herself to the new conference by dropping 31 points in a 78-58 victory.
Now, they will meet again in Indianapolis with a trip to the Big Ten Tournament championship game on the line. For the Trojans, another win would also essentially lock up a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Tipoff between USC and Michigan is set for Saturday at noon Pacific time, 3 p.m. Eastern time, on Big Ten Network.
