LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men’s golf team will host some of the nation’s top-ranked teams at the Southern Highlands Collegiate from Sunday-Tuesday, March 2-4, at Southern Highlands Golf Club (Par 72, 7,510 yards). Tee times are set to begin at 9 a.m. PT.
The public is encouraged to attend the tournament and admission is free for this prestigious event that annually lures the country’s best college golf teams. Each year ranks at or near the top of the collegiate golf schedule in terms of strength of field.
THE FIELD: The tournament field includes 15 teams, including nine in the Scoreboard Powered by Clippd top-25 rankings and 13 in the top 50. Playing alongside the host No. 31 Rebels are No. 2 Auburn, No. 4 Oklahoma, No. 9 Virginia, No. 11 Florida, No. 12 Illinois, No. 16 Georgia Tech, No. 18 SMU, No. 22 San Diego State, No. 24 Pepperdine, No. 26 Texas A&M, No. 30 Georgia, No. 50 USC, New Mexico, and Washington.
UNLV LINEUP: Representing the Scarlet & Gray will be sophomore Zach Little, senior Caden Fioroni, junior Wyatt Plattner, as well as seniors Trevor Lewis and Ben Sawaia. Also playing alongside the Rebels individually are juniors Brett Sawaia and Billy Smith alongside sophomore Dillon Dean.
FORMAT: 54-hole stroke play with the low four scores counted each round for the team total. 18-hole rounds each day. Individual ties will be broken by sudden-death playoff.
TEE TIMES: Play will begin at 9 a.m. PT each day with tee times off No. 1 and No. 10 holes.
UNLV AT THE SHC: UNLV has won the team title at the Southern Highlands Collegiate in seven of the last 19 years and has seen an individual claim medalist honors four times in the last 21 years.
LAST TIME AT THE SHC: In 2024, UNLV had two top-25 individual finishers, including Lewis who is one of three Rebel seniors returning to the event this year.
