ORRINGTON, Maine (WABI) – The Unlimited Solutions Clubhouse held its first golf tournament at the Rocky Knoll Country Club on Sunday.
The tournament supports all the services that the clubhouse has to offer.
The Clubhouse was founded in 2012 and aims to help people who suffer from mental illness achieve the goals that they have in life such as returning to work or school, or just furthering their wellness overall.
The Clubhouse also has an advisory board who help to raise both money and awareness in the Bangor community as well as throughout Penobscot county.
Clubhouse advisory board member Ragner Jaeger says that clubhouse members helped put over a million dollars back into the community through the jobs they’ve been able to find through the clubhouse.
This week is the Clubhouse’s 12th anniversary, and Executive Director Carrie Lemos says that they’ve managed to help over two-thousand people since they opened.
“I can think of one of our members who came to us 12 years ago, on day one, and she’s now working full time and is part of our advisory board. She’s doing incredible things, living on her own, living independently, working full time, and furthering her goals,” said Lemos.
“Penobscot County is beautiful, and this area is just beautiful. We’ve got a lot of folks who love to golf up here. There’s so many golf courses, and se we figured that the people who like to support Unlimited Solutions Clubhouse would also like to come out on a beautiful fall day, see the foliage, play golf, and do some good for the clubhouse, and raise some money,” said Jaeger.
The Clubhouse is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 am until 4:00 pm.
