On May 19, 2024, a delegation from the Ministry of Sports and Youth visited the United Nations House in Lusail, Qatar, to discuss enhancing youth empowerment and explore future collaborative opportunities with United Nations agencies, funds, and programs in Qatar.
The visit included officials from the Department of Youth Affairs and the Department of Public Relations and Communication, as well as a group of young graduates from the Ministry’s various programs. It marked an essential step in strengthening international cooperation and expanding opportunities for young people in Qatar to engage with global initiatives.
”It is a pleasure to welcome all of you here- youth leaders from diverse backgrounds,’ stated Salah Khaled, UNESCO Representative to Gulf States and Yemen and Director of UNESCO Office in Doha. ‘Young people play a significant role in the UN’s work, contributing their unique perspectives and diverse knowledge to address critical challenges. From advocating for social cohesion to leading initiatives for gender equality, young people are at the forefront and making a significant impact. I eagerly anticipate your involvement in many UN initiatives and am confident that you will become leaders in building a more sustainable Qatar.”
