Day 4 at the United Cup will feature several tasty matchups, including a battle between Germany and China. Led by ATP #2 Alexander Zverev, Germany look like clear favorites on paper for all three matchups, but China certainly has the talent in its ranks to try and upset the Germans and it might not be as easy as it looks on paper.
Head-to-head: first meeting
Zverev and Siegemund have a 4-1 record as a pair, including a perfect 4-0 at the United Cup (3-0 in the 2024 edition). Meanwhile Bai and Gao will be playing as a team for the first time and have no notable feats as doubles or mixed doubles players. With that in mind, it would be quite a surprise if this didn’t end with a comfortable victory for the Germans.
Prediction: Zverev/Siegemund in 2
Head-to-head: first meeting
It’s likely that Gao will need to win this match for China to have any chance of victory, but the odds aren’t in her favour here. Siegemund is the far higher ranked player and played some great tennis against Haddad Maia today, under normal circumstances she should be able to get this point for Germany here with relative comfort.
Prediction: Siegemund in 2

Head-to-head: Zverev 1-0 Zhang
Zhang is a talented player who has been rising steadily (despite a very bad ending of 2024) but Zverev is the world #2 for a reason. He might not have broken through at the Slams as of yet, but he remains incredibly tough to beat in general. He will be desperate to try and finally win a Slam in 2025 and will see the United Cup as the perfect opportunity to gain some serious momentum ahead of the first Slam of the year in Melbourne.
Prediction: Zverev in 2
