Following a loss to No. 1-ranked Kansas on Friday, the UNC basketball program has dropped in the latest AP Top 25 poll.
After debuting at No. 9 a week ago, the Tar Heels dropped one spot to No. 10 following the opening week of action. Like last week, only two ACC teams made the cut, as Duke jumped up one spot to No. 6.
For the Tar Heels, the good news is that they didn’t slip too far down the rankings. Having come back from a 20-point deficit against the No. 1 team in the country on their home court was encouraging enough for the voters to believe the UNC basketball program is still a top-10 caliber squad, as they’ll look to prove that over the next couple of weeks.
Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program only have one game on the schedule this week. On Friday night, they’ll return to the Dean Smith Center to host American in non-conference action. This will be the Tar Heels’ final tune-up before heading to Hawaii for a matchup with the Rainbow Warriors ahead of their participation in the annual Maul Invitational.
