HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – University of Hawaii women’s basketball player Daejah Phillips is stepping away from the program for an indefinite period of time.
The Rainbow Wahine faced UC Riverside Thursday night at the SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center without its star guard.
The university confirmed senior Daejah Phillips will not be an active member of the basketball program for an indefinite period due to personal reasons.
Details of the matter were not disclosed, but on the court, Phillips’ absence will be a big loss for the ‘Bows as they continue the Big West schedule.
The senior from Las Vegas started 11 of the ‘Bows 12 games this season, and was second on the team in scoring with 113 total points.
Head coach Laura Beeman had no further comment.
