The 2024 Paris Olympics have come and gone, and they did not disappoint. The United States came away with the most medals in the games, 120 in total. Of those 126 medals, the United States came away with 40 gold medals, including in basketball.

The U.S. men’s national team captured their fifth consecutive gold medal, defeating the home country, France, in the gold medal game, 98-87. The Americans dominated from start to finish; although it wasn’t easy, the U.S. reigns supreme.
The older players on the team were the standouts, including LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis, and Joel Embiid. These five led the way, and they did their part and then some to bring home another gold medal.
However, the attention now shifts to the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. The Olympic Games will be back in the United States for the first time since 1996, and the men’s national team will seek their sixth consecutive gold medal.
The men will be favorites again, but with less than four years to go, it’s uncertain who will be headlining that team. However, we may know of at least two players who will represent their country again: All-NBA guards and 2024 gold medalists Devin Booker and Anthony Edwards.
Footage caught the two expressing their interest in participating in the 2028 Olympics.
“Me [Edwards] and Book runnin the show in LA [2028 Olympics].”
Edwards and Booker did their part and then some during this year’s gold medal run.
Edwards averaged 12.8 points per game, 2.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.3 steals in 1.3 minutes per game. His best game came against Puerto Rico when he scored 26 points to become the youngest U.S. player to score 20+ in Olympic games since Dwight Howard scored 22 points vs. Germany in 2008.
Booker was the unsung hero of the 204 Paris Games. His hustle, shot-making ability, and willingness to do the little things were monumental in capturing another gold medal. The 27-year-old averaged 11.7 points on 56.8 percent shooting from the field. Booker also shot with great accuracy from deep, knocking down 56.5 percent of his attempts per contest. He also averaged 2.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists.
Booker and Edwards were huge for Team USA and will likely play a more significant role in 2028. Edwards will be 27 at the time, and Booker will be 31. Each will be at the prime of their career, and we’ll see if they can handle the load to remain at the top of the international game.
