A conservative nonprofit organization is holding a fundraiser to benefit the Jan. 6 rioters at Donald Trump’s golf club in New Jersey.

The awards gala will occur on Sept. 5 at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J., according to event sponsor Stand in the Gap. Trump was invited to attend — though a source tells PEOPLE he will not be there — and MAGA allies Rudy Giuliani and Anthony Raimondi are advertised as guest speakers.

A description for the gala says the event will “honor and celebrate” the 20 defendants who contributed to the charity song “Justice For All,” which was released in 2023 by Trump and a group of men imprisoned for the riots, who call themselves the J6 Prison Choir. The evening is also said to be in honor of all the rioters “who have shown incredible courage and sacrifice.”

“This gala is not just a celebration of the song’s success but also a crucial fundraiser. The funds raised will provide much-needed assistance to the January 6th defendants who continue to face significant challenges,” the website reads.

Stand in the Gap was founded in direct response to the riots, with the homepage stating that the organization’s mission is “to provide unwavering support to January 6th defendants and their families during their time of incarceration, aiming to alleviate the profound burden they endure.”

Tickets for the gala start at $1,500.

According to the event, Trump’s former White House aide Peter Navarro, UFC champion Colby Covington, influencers Bo Loudon and Hannah Faulkner, and families of some rioters are set to be in attendance. 

Former Trump White House staffer Olivia Troye called the event “absolutely horrid” in a recent social media post.

“Celebrating the people who endangered the life of his own Vice President & glorifying violence is a dangerous assault on our democracy & a disgraceful rewriting of history,” Troye wrote. “We must all stand together against him.”

On Jan. 6, 2021, pro-Trump rioters stormed the U.S. Capitol to show their support for then-president Trump amid his unfounded claims of election fraud following his reelection loss to president Joe Biden. The deadly incident occurred as Congress met to certify the votes of the Electoral College. Lawmakers were forced to evacuate after shots were reported.

Since the insurrection, seven people have died in connection with the riots and more than 700 people have been arrested, including Bob’s Burgers actor Jay Johnston.

In August 2023, Trump was indicted on four criminal counts by a federal grand jury investigating the Capitol riot and other efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election. The indictment alleges that Trump, after losing the 2020 presidential election, “was determined to remain in power.”

The indictment states that Trump allegedly conspired to “corruptly obstruct and impede” the certification of the electoral vote taking place on the same day. Prosecutors argue he did so by exhorting his supporters to “fight like hell” and directing them to head to the Capitol.

A hearing is set for Sept. 5 in Washington, D.C., to discuss whether prosecutors can move forward with the case after Trump was granted partial immunity by the Supreme Court in July, per The New York Times.
