Bedminster is home to President-elect Donald Trump and one of his private golf clubs, Trump National Golf Club Bedminster.
And right now, he is avoiding home because of all the unexplained drone sightings that are circling near his New Jersey abode.
On Monday, Trump commented on the drone hysteria hovering over New Jersey and nearby states.
“The government knows what is happening. Our military knows where they took off from. If it’s a garage, they can go right into that garage. They know where it came from and where it went, and for some reason they don’t want to comment.”
President Joe Biden denied withholding information on the reported drones, “Nothing nefarious, apparently,” he said Tuesday when queried by reporters at the White House. “We’re following it closely. So far no sense of danger.”
In a news conference from his Mar-a-Lago residence, Trump said he was going to avoid the area because the drones are flying close to Bedminster, where his golf course is located.
Former Gov. Christine Todd Whitman told MSNBC on Sunday that a helicopter chased away a drone near Trump’s estate
“They (the drones) happened to be over Bedminster. I think maybe I won’t spend the weekend at Bedminster. I’ve decided to cancel my trip,” Trump said on Monday.
When he’s not avoiding the New Jersey retreat because of drone activity, Bedminster is a favored spot of the incoming president.
Bedminster, a township in Somerset County, New Jersey with a population of just over 8,000 people, is home to Trump National Golf Club Bedminster, one of Trump’s officially designated residences.
Trump purchased a 520-acre property, known as Lamington Farms in 2002 and developed it into the 18-hole golf course and country club by 2004. He maintains a cottage on the grounds that are considered to be his second home or vacation home, approximately 40 miles west of his other home — Trump Tower in Manhattan.
During his first term, Trump spent considerable time at Bedminster and referred to it as the Summer White House.
The Bedminster property was the venue for Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump’s 2009 marriage to Jared Kushner. It also has a family cemetery on the grounds where his former wife, Ivana Trump is interred.
After the attempted assassination on July 14, 2024 at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, Trump went to his Bedminster home to rest and recoup.
Annual fees to join Trump National Golf Course Bedminster hover around $300,000 with reciprocal privileges at 15 other Trump resorts.
