Friday’s Male-Trinity high school football game will kick off as scheduled after both schools reported to police “a possible, veiled threat on social media mentioning our football game at Trinity tonight,” Trinity athletics director Sean Duggins wrote in an email to media.
Duggins wrote the threat came from students at a local high school — not Male or Trinity — on Friday afternoon.
“We have contacted police, who have not found any credible threat,” Duggins wrote. “Neither have the administrations at Trinity and Male.”
Duggins wrote the game will go on “with the usual security and safety precautions in place. … If you see or hear of any threats to our schools, report them to school administrators.”
Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at Trinity’s Marshall Stadium. The game will match the top two teams in the Kentucky High School Football Media Class 6A poll: No. 1 Male (3-0) and No. 2 Trinity (3-1).
