Wotton added: “We’ve got to find a way of getting that goal when we we’re on top, second half we’ve thrown the kitchen sink at it.
“The save he’s made from Lirak Hasani from the header from a corner, I don’t know about using the words ‘world class’, but it was some save.
“Jordan Young could have had a hat-trick, we kept going and the only disappointment for me was the goal we conceded, we’ve got to be better than that.
“But it’s as one-sided a 1-0 defeat as you’ll ever see.”
Despite the loss, Torquay remain second in National League South, level with leaders Boreham Wood who lost 4-1 at home to Chippenham Town.
Just three points cover the top seven sides in the division as they approach two-thirds of the way through the season.
“It’s been a week where I think we should be sat here with nine points from the week and we’re sat here with two,” Wotton added.
“It’s a funny old league as you can see with the results today, we’ve just got to stay calm, stay consistent.
“I can’t have a go at anyone for that performance. This is the first time since I’ve managed Torquay where fans have stayed behind to say how well the boys played.
“This is going to sound crazy, but it’s probably the best performance we’ve had at home and our home record has gone.”
