The Seattle Seahawks need to revamp their offensive line this offseason. Though John Schneider should ideally address that issue via the 2025 NFL draft, NFL free agency offers another opportunity to pursue upgrades. The Seahawks’ cap situation will probably prevent them from being major spenders, but it’s worth analyzing which experienced talents are expected to be available.
Pro Football Focus recently compiled a list of the 100 best free agents. The Seahawks especially require upgrades at guard and center. PFF says these three interior blockers are among the best overall players that may be available.
Trey Smith, G, Kansas City Chiefs (No. 2 overall)
There’s almost no way the Seahawks can afford to pursue Trey Smith, PFF’s No. 2 overall free agent. A multiple-time Super Bowl winner, Smith is an elite blocker who’s well-positioned to command more than $20 million annually if the Chiefs don’t franchise tag him.
Drew Dalman C, Atlanta Falcons No. 22 overall)
If the Seahawks are going to “splurge” for a veteran offensive lineman in free agency, Drew Dalman would be an outstanding call. He’d be an excellent fit for new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak and his outside-zone-based scheme. The center position is important in Kubiak’s offense, and Dalman is easily the best center slated to hit the open market.
Will Fries, G, Indianapolis Colts (No. 24 overall)
Firstly, it’s worth noting Will Fries is recovering from a serious season-ending tibia injury. That could drastically alter his market, though he’s performed impressively enough to ink a massive contract in the ever-increasing guard market. The Seahawks require instant improvement at both left and right guard.
