TYLER, Texas (KLTV) – Former Dallas Cowboys star quarterback Tony Romo is back in Tyler this week where he will once again be taking part in the Texas Open golf Tournament at the Cascades Country Club.
How does it feel to be back in Tyler?
“It feels great to be in Tyler,” he said. “People are wonderful. I feel like it’s almost like being in my college hometown or back home where everyone’s rooting for you. So I gotten to know a lot of people here. It’s just a special place. And so it’s like, it’s like I’m going home to play in a golf tournaments. It’s fantastic.”
And how does he feel going into this week’s tournament?
“I feel good. Last month. I didn’t feel good. I was playing bad golf but I think we’ve turned the corner there. We’re starting to hit the ball, you know, at a level that I’m excited about the prospects for this week. I’m excited about tomorrow,” he said.
What does he think the Cowboys chances are next season?
“Cowboys have a great chance next season. I mean, they have a great roster. I think the Jones family and Will McLay have built a great roster. I think they got a great coaching staff and they got a great players. So really, it’s just gonna come down to their mental fortitude, and their ability to just overcome some of the adversity that will eventually hit like all teams,” he said.
Now as far as the golf tournament is concerned, it tees off Tuesday and will continue through Friday.
