Sunday marked the first ‘start’ of Tom Brady’s next career.

The seven-time NFL Super Bowl champion made his debut in the broadcast booth for FOX Sports on Sunday as the analyst for the Dallas Cowboys vs. Cleveland Browns game.

Brady was in the booth with Kevin Burkhardt. Greg Olsen held that spot in the booth last year, but on Sunday he was the analyst in the Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Atlanta Falcons game.

What Tom Brady said in his first NFL broadcast

“We’re here, it’s been quite a journey,” noted Brady to kick off the broadcast.

Brady spent most of the opening segment talking about the quarterbacks on both sidelines. From talking about Dak Prescott’s new contract to Deshaun Watson’s potential returning from an injury-riddled 2023 season.

Brady said that Prescott was coming off the best season of his career in 2023.

Tom Brady’s FOX Sports contract

In 2022, Brady signed a 10-year, $375-million contract with FOX Sports. His debut in the broadcast booth was delayed after he came out of retirement to play another season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Brady’s FOX contract is worth more than he made during his 23-year playing career (just shy of $333 million).

Tom Brady’s connection to Las Vegas Raiders

Brady is reportedly close to becoming a partial owner of the Las Vegas Raiders.

Last month, ESPN reported that if Brady does in fact become an owner of an NFL team, he would face limitations in his broadcast career. Due to the league’s anti-gambling and tampering policy, he would be prevented from having full access the broadcast teams are accustomed to having. Those restrictions were in place for the Cowboys-Browns game.

Brady was not be allowed to watch opposing team’s practices, enter their practice facilities or or attend broadcast meetings (in person or virtually). He was also not be allowed to criticize teams or officials.

What game is Tom Brady announcing in Week 2?

FOX sports is scheduled to broadcast several marquee matchups in the second week of the NFL season.

On Sunday, FOX has six games on its slate, including both of Brady’s former teams. The New England Patriots host the Seattle Seahawks at 1 p.m. while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will head to Detroit to play the Lions at 1.

FOX also has the New Orleans Saints at Dallas Cowboys, Indianapolis Colts at Green Bay Packers and New York Giants at Washington Commanders at 1. At 4:05, the Arizona Cardinals host the Los Angeles Rams.

Our best guess has Brady in Detroit to watch his most recent team, Tampa Bay.
