Tiger Woods’ second TGL match has arrived — as has his first head-to-head meeting against Rory McIlroy in the brand-new league.
After the two famed golfers were brought in as partners for the creation of the TMRW Golf League, each will lead their four-player squad on Monday night in a meeting between Woods’ Jupiter Links Golf Club and McIlroy’s Boston Common team. They’ll face off in SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
With the league aiming to bring golf into a new age, including a collection of professional golfers that compete using a combination of simulators and physical putting greens, Woods has already made his TGL debut. On Jan. 14, his Jupiter team fell 12-1 to L.A. Golf Club.
However, Monday will mark the first match of the TGL season for McIlroy and Boston Common, and it comes in the league’s most high-profile head-to-head matchup including two of its creators. While Woods and Jupiter Links Golf Club are looking to recover from their first loss, McIlroy and Boston Common will attempt to start their season on a good note.
The Sporting News has you covered on results, updated scores and highlights as Tiger Woods’ and Rory McIlroy’s teams go head-to-head in the TGL.

Hole 8 — TIE
“Hatchet” is the name of the eighth hole, and it’s a Par 4 at 448 yards. The hole features a two-tiered fairway.
These two teams are not giving an inch. After Scott downed an 11-foot putt, he challenged JLGC by dropping a hammer. With the hole worth two points, Kisner comes through with yet another clutch putt in this match, keeping it tied at one.

Hole 7 — TIE
Hole No. 7 is called “Craic On,” another Par 3 that’s 172 yards. Compared to TGL’s first three matches, they’ll tee off 21 yards closer.
Another hole, another tie, as a clutch putt from Kim keeps things neck-and-neck. McIlroy set Scott up nicely for a 15-foot putt, but Kim answered.
Hole 6 — Jupiter Links Golf Club wins hole, tied 1-1
The sixth hole is called “Bluebonnet,” a 312-yard Par 4.
A one-stroke penalty for Boston Common gave JLGC a significant advantage from the start on this one, allowing Woods and company to get on the board. Through six holes, this match is knotted at one.
Hole 5 — TIE
The next hole is called “Cliffhanger,” a 184-yard Par 3 that has only seen one birdie in early TGL action so far.
For the fourth time already, the hammer is thrown, this time by Jupiter Links Golf Club. But it doesn’t change the result, the fourth tie in five holes. Boston Common holds on to a slim lead after McIlroy drains his putt.

Hole 4 — TIE
The fourth hole is called “Sidewinder,” the second time Woods and McIlroy will tee off. It’s a 571-yard Par 5, with the main obstacle being some water in front of the green.
It ends in another tie, although Adam Scott gave Boston Common a great chance with a 240-yard shot that fell 13 feet next to the hole. But Tiger Woods makes some TGL history instead, knocking down a four-foot putt for the first birdie in his team’s history.

Hole 3 — Boston Common wins hole, up 1-0
The third hole is called “Oh Chute.” It’s a 205-yard Par 3, loaded with trees.
Strategy came into play on this one, resulting in the first point of the match. Kim’s shot off the tee went into a bunker, putting JLGC at a quick disadvantage. Woods attempted to get out of the bunker unsuccessfully, and for the third straight hole, we had a hammer dropped. Jupiter Links Golf Club opted to concede the hole rather than play for two points with a stroke disadvantage, giving McIlroy’s squad the early lead.
Hole 2 — TIE
The second hole is called “Bonnie Link.” It’s a 602-yard Par 5. Scott and Kisner got things started.
Once again, we had a hammer dropped, this time from Jupiter Links Golf Club. But once again, it resulted in no points. Tom Kim downed a putt from around eight feet out, putting the pressure on Keegan Bradley. However, Bradley connected on his three-foot putt, keeping this match scoreless.

Hole 1 — TIE
The first hole is called “Flex,” a 516-yard Par 4. Up the middle of the hole is a pool of lava, with three options for the golfers off the tee. Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods get things started, and both opt to take a less risky shot to the right side of the lava pool.
The hole was still close by the time McIlroy and Woods got their putting opportunities, and McIlroy made things interesting by immediately dropping the hammer. However, rather than two points for either team, it ends in a tie.

Jupiter Links Golf Club and Boston Common Golf represent two of the six teams in the TGL. The Jupiter Links Golf Club is based out of Jupiter, Florida, and includes Woods, Max Homa, Tom Kim, and Kevin Kisner.
On the other side of things, Boston Common Golf includes McIlroy, Keegan Bradley, Adam Scott, and Hideki Matsuyama.
TGL is an abbreviation for the TMRW Golf League. McIlroy, Woods, and sports executive Mike McCarley formed TMRW Sports together, collaborating to make TGL.
With six teams in the league, each team includes four members. The regular season runs from Jan. 7 to March 4, when playoffs would start. Each week, a pair of teams compete in two rounds. The first consists of nine holes in a three-vs-three format where the golfers alternate shots. The second portion is six holes of singles with players going head-to-head.
The golfers will hit their driver and long shots into a screen, just like you would at a simulator. The short game is not simulated, however. There is a short-game area that is larger than four basketball courts that will allow golfers to hit out of the sand as they work to the green.
The TGL utilizes a massive in-person green that the golfers putt on. They have hole locations all over the green, and before each hole one is filled and then another is chosen to put the flag in. This gives the golfers different looks every hole.
TGL uses stroke play, so whoever has the lowest score on a hole, earns a point. The team with the most points at the end of both rounds, is considered the winner.
The twist with the scoring is that there is a hammer that can be played. One team starts with the hammer. This can be played at any time to increase the point value of a hole by one point. So if a hole is normally worth one point, a team can play the hammer and the hole is now worth two points.
If the opposing team wants to block the hammer play, they can, but they will automatically concede the hole. Also, once a hammer is used it then goes to the other team who can use it instantly if they prefer. This means that if both teams use the hammer, a hole goes from one point to three.
With the full TGL regular season schedule out, most of the matches will air on ESPN and ESPN+ on Tuesdays. There are a handful of matches on ESPN2 or on a Monday, though.
Fubo offers a free trial and has ESPN included in its channel lineup.
Woods’ Jupiter Links Gold Club has already competed in one match, a loss to L.A. Golf Club earlier in January. With a five-match season, just three will remain for Woods’ squad following Monday’s matchup against Boston Common.
