Legendary golfer. Lucky color. Iconic course.
Tiger Woods has selected Pebble Beach — site of his astounding 15-stroke U.S. Open win — for his first golf apparel pop-up shop.
His line of clothing and accessories called Sun Day Red — a nod to Woods’ tradition of wearing a red shirt on Sundays during tournaments — will make its debut this Friday, Oct. 11, at the Pebble Beach Resorts’ Lodge Arcade, brand officials announced. The shop will be open daily.
Sun Day Red is a subsidiary of TaylorMade Golf, which is presenting the TGR Jr. Invitational this weekend at the course. The brand was launched in February, with Woods trading a Nike swoosh — from his previous retail partner — for his new logo, a stylized tiger. Online sales started May 1.
The Lodge Arcade is stocking polo shirts, pants, caps, gloves — even an umbrella for misty days on the links — along with casual wear like hoodies.
Throughout his career, Woods has worn red for tournament finales because his mother told him that was his power color. In the hands of marketers, however, the color takes on new significance: “Today, the Sunday red is more than superstition. It’s a symbol of Tiger’s relentless pursuit of excellence, and a testament to his mental fortitude under the greatest of pressures.”
