It’s no trick — you’re seeing different treats for Halloween this year.
If you’ve dug your hand into a candy bowl or browsed the grocery store lately, you may have noticed a change from years prior.
While chocolatey candy has reigned as a Halloween favorite for years, taste buds and economics are shifting. This year, you’ll notice more sour, gummy and hard candy in variety packs than in the past, according to a CNN report.
This is due not only to a change in consumer preference but also to the rising cost of cocoa — which is forcing manufacturers to shift away from snack-size candy bars. Instead, expect more gummy worms and sour snacks galore.
Not so sweet on the latest candy trends? This suite of new opportunities below will make up for it.
