It’s only been a couple of days since Republican Donald Trump was declared the winner of the 2024 race for president.
But at least one betting site is already giving odds on who could succeed Trump in the White House in four years.
The Constitution bars Trump from running for another term in office.
One unexpected name has shockingly made the list of potential successors to Trump: New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
The Bounding Into Sports site said that one oddsmaker is giving Rodgers a 3.2% chance of winning the White House in 2028.
The number comes from the Bookies.com website.
Bounding Into Sports noted that Rodgers has dipped his toe into politics before, with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. asking the NFL legend if he would be his vice-presidential running mate.
“I said, ‘Are you serious? I’m a (expletive) football player,’” Rodgers told conservative pundit Tucker Carlson in May, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Rodgers, who called himself “super patriotic,” added that he seriously considered the offer.
“Definitely thought about it because I love Bobby and I just wanted to hear what he had to say about it,” he said.
RFK Jr. eventually dropped out of the 2024 race and endorsed Trump.
Speaking of Trump, Rodgers appeared to appreciate the Republican and why “red-blooded Americans” support him, the Journal Sentinel said.
“He speaks the rhetoric of taking back, making America great again,” Rodgers said.
But Rodgers said that Trump had four years to improve the country during his first term and “didn’t drain the swamp.”
Rodgers wondered whether Trump “just got scared about what he learned when he was in there.”
Rodgers has been controversial in the past, including over his refusal to be vaccinated during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Topping the Bookies.com list of potential Trump successors in 2028 are: GOP vice president-elect JD Vance; Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom; GOP Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis; former Democratic First Lady Michelle Obama, and Democratic Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro.
