Shaquille O’Neal, the 7-foot-1 NBA legend who moonlights as DJ Diesel, will be back on the turntables as the headliner of the first Sports Illustrated LIV Golf Experience, a live entertainment event announced Tuesday morning by the Saudi Arabia-backed tour.
The event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21, starting at 9 p.m. at the Komodo restaurant and nightclub in Deep Ellum. It takes place after the second round of the LIV Golf tour’s team championship at Maridoe Golf Club in Carrollton.
Three other DJs — Dombresky, Linska and Zack Bia — will also perform at the event. General admission tickets start at $75 and VIP tables start at $3,000. Tickets are available on the LIV Golf website.
This won’t be O’Neal’s first time DJing in the D-FW area. Last year in Fort Worth, he launched Shaq’s Bass All-Stars Festival, which drew some 15,000 attendees, according to festival organizers. The festival recently announced it is returning to Cowtown this November.
O’Neal has also been active in North Texas real estate. He purchased a five-bedroom property in Carrollton two years ago, but sold it this month after reportedly buying a new place in Rockwall County in April. He also recently told The Dallas Morning News that he’s interested in a castle-style home in Southlake.
Beyond the music and real estate, O’Neal is expanding his Big Chicken restaurant chain to North Texas. The first area location opens in Fort Worth next week.
