BYU’s latest transfer portal addition has a familiar last name.
Former Baylor long snapper Garrison Grimes has committed to the Cougars, the program announced Wednesday afternoon.
Garrison Grimes is the son of Jeff Grimes, who has had two separate stints on BYU’s coaching staff — as offensive line coach from 2004-06, and most famously, as offensive coordinator from 2018-20.

When Jeff Grimes left Provo to become the offensive coordinator at Baylor in 2021, Garrison joined him there upon graduating from American Fork High School.
Garrison Grimes served as the Bears’ primary long snapper over the past three seasons, even after his father took another job on staff at Kansas before the 2024 campaign.
Grimes has one season of eligibility remaining and is slated to replace Dalton Riggs as BYU’s deep snapping specialist for 2025.
