The Kansas women’s golf team is in the middle of its best season in school history.
The Jayhawks won the Match in the Desert this week, an event they hosted at Prospector Golf Course in Gold Canyon, Arizona. Kansas, ranked 24th in the NCAA golf rankings, shot 2-over 290 in the 18-hole tournament, topping No. 7 Arizona State by three shots for the title.
The win was significant in multiple ways for Kansas. This is the first time in school history that the Jayhawks have won four events in a single season, and the victory Monday was Kansas’ fourth consecutive, dating to the fall at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic.
Senior Lily Hurst also took home medalist honors, her first collegiate win after shooting 3-under 69. She topped Texas A&M’s Kynadie Adams and Arizona State’s Isla McDonald-O’Brien by a shot.
