The Old Gold Show is back from a hiatus after I’ve completed my move across the country and Casey has a moment to breathe after following the team all around the country. So, we sit back, and instead of discussing any one particular game Casey and I look at what has transpired so far this season and try to look at the big picture. This was always going to be a transitional year I think everyone knew that, but was the injury to Daniel Jacobsen really so impactful that it has changed the entire trajectory of the 2024-2025 men’s basketball season? I ask Casey precisely that question.
I also ask him about that man pictured in the header of this article, Caleb Furst. Casey has always been a Caleb Furst fan and even at times thought he was the better option to start and get minutes over Mason Gillis. I was always on the opposite side of that argument between us and I think history has been kind to my side, but what is going on with Furst? Is it just as simple as confidence?
Then, Casey and I look at the Big Ten race and who we think are the top teams in the conference. It’s early going still, but there’s some teams that we think have a real shot at contending for a title. So watch us on YouTube or subscribe on your favorite podcast platforms.
