It’s been another exciting year of tennis on the ATP Tour and with 2025 around the corner it’s time to reflect on the year that was 2024.
Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner look set to have a rivalry for the ages in the years to come and they shared the four Grand Slam titles this year.
Taylor Fritz reached his first Grand Slam final and repeated that feat at the ATP Finals – losing to Sinner in both of those clashes.
Elsewhere, fans waved a fond farewell to Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal with the pair leaving Novak Djokovic as the final member of the big four to fly solo.
As the year winds to a close, it’s fascinating to look back at the movers and shakers on the tour and statistics when it comes to tennis often paint a picture.
There are some big serving players in today’s game when it comes to the ATP Tour and we’ve looked at the five players who have served the most aces during 2024.
This one might come as a bit of a surprise given that Rublev has had a particularly poor season by his standards.
He did reach the quarters in Australia but was stunned in the first round at Wimbledon and also lost in round three at the French Open and in round four at the US Open.
Serving-wise, things weren’t bad at all, however. Rublev served a huge 578 aces from 69 matches.
The American player is still striving for that breakthrough tournament on the tour and although he’s had some decent results this year, they’ve been somewhat few and far between.
Shelton did reach the semis at the US Open in 2023 but this year he failed to make it past the fourth round of any of the major events.
The 22-year-old has time on his side, however, and with 619 aces from 67 matches, he has added a very useful string to his bow.
Now, this one isn’t really a huge surprise, it has to be said.
Fritz has been called a one-trick pony before with his huge serve and it’s perhaps surprising that he’s not in the top two of this list.
The US Open finalist managed a whopping 725 aces from 74 matches and he will hope to win that big title very soon.
The Polish powerhouse played the fewest matches of any player in this top five and it’s quite remarkable that he’s second on the list of players with the most aces.
Hurkacz has played 58 matches this year but has a staggering 736 aces to his name and clearly that makes him an extremely dangerous player.
Hurkacz famously reached the semis at Wimbledon in 2021 and he will be hoping to go one further than the quarter-final spot he achieved at the Australian Open in 2024 when things start again next year.
Comfortably the best server on the current ATP Tour and it’s absolutely no surprise to see Zverev sitting top of the pile when it comes to aces.
Zverev is still waiting to win a major title, although he has won the ATP Tour Finals on two occasions in the past.
The 27-year-old has been in the final of the French Open and the US Open but lost in the semis at the Australian Open during 2024.
In terms of aces, he was way ahead of the field smashing 797 aces during his 90 matches.
