The Chosen Vron, whose six-race win streak ended last out in the Grade 2 Pat O’Brien, will sit out the Breeders’ Cup Sprint.
Zoe Cadman of XpressbetTV posted the news on X on Wednesday, citing co-owner John Sondereker.
Sondereker told Daily Racing Form that a Breeders’ Cup veterinarian put The Chosen Vron on the vet’s list.
“He has a little hitch in his backside,” he told DRF. “It’s not a problem, no medication.”
Trained by Eric Kruljac, the 6-year-old gelding by Vronsky finished fifth in last year’s Breeders’ Cup Sprint. That race and the Pat O’Brien were his only losses in his last 16 starts, dating to 2022.
Overall, The Chosen Vron has a record of 25: 19-2-2 and earnings of $1.7 million. Sodereker told DRF that he could return to racing against California-breds.
