On Thursday, February 20, the world’s largest martial arts organization returned to the Middle East with a blockbuster fight card featuring many of the planet’s top martial artists.
ONE 171: Qatar went down at the state-of-the-art Lusail Sports Arena and delivered white-knuckle action from the opening bout to the pair of World Title fights atop the card.
In the main event, ONE Strawweight MMA World Champion Joshua “The Passion” Pacio dug deep to score a stunning second-round TKO against interim titleholder Jarred “The Monkey God” Brooks to unify the belts and become the undisputed divisional king.
With the incredible comeback victory, the Filipino star improved to 2-1 in his epic rivalry with Brooks.
In the co-main event, ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Champion Jonathan “The General” Haggerty turned in a brilliant performance against Chinese superstar “Demon Blade” Wei Rui en route to a hard-fought decision victory and his first defense of the belt.
Just before that, Croatian brawler Roberto “Robocop” Soldic picked up his first win in ONE with a highlight-reel knockout of Turkey’s Dagi Arslanaliev, immediately catapulting himself into World Title contention in the welterweight MMA division.
Also on the fiery card, former 11-time ONE Bantamweight MMA World Champion Bibiano Fernandes won his retirement fight against longtime rival Kevin Belingon, ONE Lightweight Submission Grappling World Champion Kade Ruotolo continued his perfect run in MMA with a first-round finish of Nicolas Vigna, Canadian-British sensation Jake Peacock delivered a dominant stoppage of Shinji Suzuki – and much more.
