When it comes to NBA basketball in the 1980s, none had a firmer grip on stardom in that era than Hall of Fame Boston Celtics small forward legend Larry Bird. The Hick From French Lick was no slouch on the court — in fact, quite the opposite. Larry Legend was known for telling his opponents exactly how and where he would eviscerate them for our entertainment — and then back it up on the court with chilling regularity.
To try to capture the essence of what a takeover moment from Bird was truly like to witness, the folks behind the “Free Dawkins” YouTube channel put together a highlight reel of the Indiana alum’s best play from the NBA finals in the 1980s for our education or nostalgia as the case may be.
