Texas women’s basketball conference schedule
COLLEGE STATION − Over the years, the Texas and Texas A&M women’s basketball teams have been involved in Southwest Conference skirmishes and Big 12 battles. Now it’s time for an SEC showdown.
On Sunday evening, Texas A&M (10-10, 3-5) will host No. 7 Texas (21-2, 7-1) in the first conference clash between the two schools since the Aggies left the Big 12 in 2012. Twelve years later, Texas is tied for second place in the Southeastern Conference standings while Texas A&M is locked in a ninth-place tie.
Texas owns a 63-24 lead in the all-time series between these in-state rivals.
This is the first meeting between Texas and Texas A&M since 2021. Four players who played in the Longhorns’ 76-60 win on Dec. 5, 2021 — Texas guards Rori Harmon and Shay Holle and Texas A&M’s Sahara Jones and Jada Malone — are still on the two teams’ rosters.
Stay tuned for live updates.
Behind 17 points and 13 rebounds from Madison Booker, No. 7 Texas cruised to a 20-point win in the resumption of its in-state rivalry with Texas. Rori Harmon added 15 points and Shay Holle scored 12 points for a Texas team that never trailed at Reed Arena.
Now 22-2 with an 8-1 mark in SEC play, Texas will turn its attention to next week’s games against No. 23 Vanderbilt and No. 2 South Carolina.
Texas A&M (10-11, 3-6) was led by the 12 points scored by both Jada Malone and Janae Kent.
The daughter of a Texas football player, Shay Holle has made her mark as this in-state rivalry resumes. Holle has knocked down two 3-pointers in the fourth quarter as the Texas lead has ballooned to 22 points.
Who else is playing well in the fourth quarter? Senior guard Rori Harmon, who has scored five points and distributed two assists. For the game, Harmon has 15 points and five assists.
Texas led by as many as 20 points in the third quarter, but the Aggies finished the session on a miniature run. Still, the Longhorns will take a healthy lead into the final frame.
Madison Booker leads all scorers with her 17 points while Rori Harmon has added 10 points to UT’s scoring total. The Aggies have been paced by Janae Kent’s 10 points.
Madison Booker is closing in on both a milestone and a double-double performance. Booker has already recorded 17 points and nine rebounds this evening, and she needs just one more rebound for her fourth double-double of the season.
A sophomore forward, Booker is also 17 points away from joining the 1,000-point club at Texas. In its history, Texas has had 48 1,000-point scorers.
Behind Madison Booker’s 10 points and seven rebounds, Texas has seized control of the scoreboard at Reed Arena. Texas senior guard Rori Harmon also knocked down four of her five shots in the first half.
Texas A&M shot just 8-for-23 from the field in the first half. The Aggies have eight turnovers.
So far tonight, Texas has 13 field goals and two turnovers. Texas A&M has seven field goals and six turnovers.
Texas sophomore Madison Booker leads all scorers with her eight points.
Rori Harmon beat the buzzer to start and end the first quarter, and Texas has built a 10-point lead on the road. On the game’s first possession, Harmon sank a jump as the shot clock’s buzzer rang. She then used a teammate’s screen to break open and make a buzzer-beating shot as time expired in the first quarter.
Harmon and Madison Booker both scored six points to lead the Longhorns in the opening session.
Sahara Jones scored five points to lead Texas A&M in the first quarter. The Aggies had as many turnovers (four) as field goals in the quarter.
Three days after she missed eight of the 10 shots that she took against Missouri, Rori Harmon is off to a good start in College Station. Harmon scored on each of UT’s first two possessions, and she has four points, two assists and a steal so far. As a freshman, Harmon recorded an 18-point, nine-assist performance during the Longhorns’ last appearance at Reed Arena.
It’s not all good for Texas, though. Starting guard Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda picked up two fouls in the game’s first 127 seconds and was pulled from the game.
