NEW ORLEANS – Texas State’s Sakke Siltala and Georgia State’s TK Kongthong earn the final Sun Belt Golfer of the Week honors of 2024.
Men’s Golfer of the Week
Sakke Siltala
(Jr., Finland)
Siltala earned runner-up honors at that Kapolei Invitational and helped lead the Bobcats to a season-best tied for fourth finish at the event. The junior fired a season-low 66 in the tournament’s first round to put together a three-round 3-under 213 for his best finish of the season and second consecutive finish in the top three. In total, the junior carded nine birdies and an eagle through 54 holes.
Women’s Golfer of the Week
TK Kongthong, Georgia State
(Fr., Bangkok, Thailand)
Kongthong won the Mercer invitational, marking her first win in her fifth start for the Panthers. She shot 69-70-72 to card 211 through three rounds to lower her scoring average to 71.3 in the season. Her 5-under par card helped the Panthers to a fourth-place finish. This is the second time this fall Kongthong has earned Sun Belt Golfer of the Week honors, she joins Arkansas State’s Ashley Kim as the only two among both the men’s and women’s teams to be honored twice this fall.
