Texas basketball (15-7, 4-5 SEC) rode a big second half to an 89-58 win at LSU last Saturday, the largest margin of victory for the Longhorns this season in conference play. In the process, Texas continued to climb up the SEC standings and off the NCAA Tournament bubble after a rough start to its new conference.
The Longhorns have now won four of their past six SEC games and are favored to beat visiting Arkansas (13-8, 2-6) Wednesday at 8 p.m. at Moody Center (ESPN2, 1300, 98.1).

Freshman Tre Johnson, the SEC’s leading scorer at 19 points a game, continues to pace Texas. The SEC named Johnson the conference’s freshman of the week Monday, which marks Johnson’s second straight and third career weekly league honor. During UT’s two contests last week, he averaged 20 points, four assists, three rebounds and 1.5 steals in road games against Ole Miss and LSU.
But Johnson and the Longhorns will be tested by Arkansas, which has been playing better basketball in recent weeks and just knocked off No. 14 Kentucky on the road Saturday.
