This offseason, Texas A&M has notably made strides in the transfer portal, as coach Mike Elko and his staff welcomed 14 new players, including four wide receivers and four defensive linemen. This strategy boosts both depth and talent for the upcoming 2025 season season.
However, A&M’s interior defensive line is lacking depth, as incoming junior Defensive tackle DJ Hicks and veteran nose tackle Albert Regis are the only veteran returning, spurring Elko to contact one of the newest additions to the transfer portal this week.
On Saturday, Texas A&M recruiting insider Jaxson Callaway (AggiesToday) Texas A&M will host Ohio State defensive lineman Hero Kanu, who entered the portal after Ohio State defeated Notre Dame in the 2024 CFP National Championship game.
Kanu recorded ten tackles and one sack in two seasons with the Buckeyes, appearing statistically in just a handful of games. However, this was mainly due to Ohio State’s immense depth in the trenches.
Standing at 6-5 and over 300 pounds, Kanu’s size and strength provide obvious depth, as the former four-star prospect likely needs a change of scenery heading into his junior season.
