After losing three of their first five matches, Australia needed a miracle in the mixed doubles to progress as the best runners-up.
Australia needed to win this match, while also conceding four games or fewer to progress.
But Australia’s hopes of a quarter-finals appearance ended in the second set when they lost their fifth game.
The result means Great Britain will face Poland in tomorrow’s quarter-finals, and Czechia will play Italy on Friday.
