Liam Doyle (3-0) started and pitched 5.2 innings for Tennessee, earning his third win this season. He recorded 13 strikeouts and allowed two walks. Doyle totaled 104 strikes, including 72 strikes, against 19 batters.
Tanner Franklin relieved Doyle and pitched 0.1 innings. St. Bonaventure hit a groundout in its only plate appearance against Franklin.
Brandon Arvidson replaced Franklin and recorded two strikeouts against four batters. Brayden May then relieved Arvidson and also pitched one inning. May recorded one strikeout and allowed one walk against four batters.
Michael Sharman was the final Vol to pitch in the combined no-hit performance. He faced St. Bonaventure’s final three batters and forced two fly outs and one groundout.
Tennessee’s last no-hitter was by Jeffery Terrell on Feb. 15, 2002. Tennessee defeated Bowling Green, 5-0.
The Vols’ last combined no-hitter took place Feb. 21, 2000 at College of Charleston. Kurt Scott, Brad Love, Logan Brummitt, Marlyn Tisdale and Brandon Crowe were Tennessee’s pitchers in its, 14-1, win.
