Editor’s note: As part of The Tennessean’s season-long project chronicling Brentwood Academy football and its rich history, we chat with Eagles quarterback and Tennessee recruit George MacIntyre each week about various topics. To follow along, please subscribe to The Tennessean here.
The next time George MacIntyre goes to Knoxville, he’ll be bringing suitcases and will be moving in.
The Brentwood Academy senior quarterback and Tennessee football recruit leaves for college in December.
For now, the 6-foot-6, 200-pounder’s mind is on Eagles football.
Brentwood Academy will face Father Ryan in a TSAAA Division II-AAA football state quarterfinal at 7 p.m. Friday in Nashville.
The Eagles defeated Father Ryan 31-2 in front of former Eagle and current Miami Dolphin Jalen Ramsey in Week 4.
That will matter zero come Friday night.
“The scoreboard is going to start of 0-0,” MacIntyre said. “Clean slate.”
MacIntyre finished the regular season 153-for-230 for 2,155 yards, 14 touchdowns and three interceptions for the 7-3 Eagles, who were a program-worst 2-10 last year and are on four-game winning streak.
“Coming off a lot of wins in a row, but we are down a few key players,” MacIntyre said. “We need a lot of guys to step up. That’s the case with a lot of teams.”
