HUMBLE, Texas – No. 16 TCU continued its red-hot form in the Greater Houston metropolitan area on Monday.
The Horned Frogs carded a 19-under 557 over the first two rounds of play at the Chevron Collegiate on the grounds of the PGA Tour level Golf Club of Houston. TCU sits a solo second out of 16 teams ahead of Tuesday’s final. The Frogs will start four strokes back of tournament leader Texas A&M.
TCU matched its program record for low-36 hole score with Monday’s showing. The Horned Frogs shot a 14-under 274 in round two, good for the second-lowest round vs. par in program history.
Collectively, TCU bagged 17 birdies in the second round to vault past No. 1 Arkansas, No. 12 Mississippi State and third place Maryland (-16, 560).
Sofia Barroso Sá and Meagan Winans each finished four-under in round two and paced TCU’s surge up the leaderboard. Freshmen Camille Min-Gaultier and Gracie McGovern kept pace, turning in a pair of three-under 69 scorecards.
Barroso Sá and Min-Gaultier are tied for sixth (-6, 138). Both players set personal records for low-36 hole score.
A native of Belmonte, Portugal, Barroso Sá rattled off four consecutive birdies across holes seven through 10 in round two and played even-par golf on the back nine. Barroso Sá has tallied a team-leading 13 rounds of par-or-better in 2024-25.
Min-Gaultier bogeyed just one hole across Monday’s 10-hour marathon. She finished four-under over her two walks along the back nine. Min-Gaultier has been even or under par in eight of her last 11 rounds dating back to TCU’s team championship at the Jim West Challenge in October.
Winans is tied for 12th (-5, 139). TCU’s lone senior, Winans is enjoying a streak of three consecutive sub-70 rounds. Winans led the 90-player field in par-3 scoring (-3, 2.63).
McGovern’s second round efforts offset an opening score of one-over 73. She was minus-3 over her final 11 holes and enters Tuesday in 30th place.
Kirstin Angosta shot a 10-over 154 and is tied for 81st to round out TCU’s five-player lineup.
Sophomore Sofie Dimitrova played as an individual and sits tied for 73rd at seven-over.
The Horned Frogs shot a tournament-best eight-under on par-3s (-8, 2.80) and recorded the fewest bogeys of any team (19).
TCU has now entered the final round of play or second place in five of its last six tournaments. The Horned Frogs have placed fourth-or-better in all-but-one of their seven events this season.
