GUADALAJARA, Mexico – The No. 23 TCU women’s golf team picked up where it left off to begin the spring portion of its season.
The Horned Frogs are tied for second place in the Collegiate Invitational at Guadalajara Country Club after 27 holes of play on Friday.
TCU shot a one-under 431 over the first half of the three-round, 54-hole affair. The Frogs sat in a three-way tie for first at minus-fur (284) following round one.
The strong start in Jalisco, Mexico, augments the Horned Frogs’ march toward a favorable seed in the NCAA Tournament come May. TCU notched four consecutive top five finishes to close the fall slate of the 2024-25 campaign, highlighted by team titles at the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational and Jim West Challenge.
TCU is paired with tournament leader Florida State (-5, 427) and Virginia (-1, 431), ranked 12th and 11th, respectively, in the Scoreboard team rankings, ahead of Saturday’s final day.
The Horned Frogs have three players featured in the top 10 of the individual leaderboard
Kirstin Angosta, the nation’s No. 70 ranked player, birdied two of her final three holes to vault into a tie for seventh at two-under 106.
Gracie McGovern and Meagan Winans finished even-par and are a part of a six-way deadlock for 10th.
All three players turned in under-par scorecards in round one, with McGovern carding a two-under 70.
Winans and Camille Min-Gaultier, who is tied for 19th (+2, 109), supercharged a TCU birdie surge on the back nine in the opening round. TCU tallied a combined 13 birdies. Min-Gaultier birdied four of her final seven holes to get to even entering the clubhouse while Winans shot a two-under 34.
The Horned Frogs’ five-player lineup finished a combined one-under across its final five holes.
TCU tops the 12-team field in par-3 scoring (-2, .293) ad par-4 scoring (4.03) and is tied with the Seminoles for the tournament lead in birdies (25).
Sofia Barroso Sá sits level with Min-Gaultier on the leaderboard.
Min-Gaultier is a tournament-best two-under on par-3s.
