Former collegiate golfer Taylor Ross has joined the Youngstown State women’s golf coaching staff as a graduate assistant, Head Coach Nate Miklos announced on Monday.
“We are very excited to have Taylor joining our coaching staff,” said Miklos. “She will help make a huge difference in our player development on and off the course. Taylor’s collegiate playing experience coupled with her coaching experience will be major assets to our team throughout the 2024-25 season.”
Ross, a native of nearby Columbiana, Ohio, spent the 2023-24 season as a volunteer assistant coach at her alma mater Adrian College following a five-year playing career. She began her career at Division II Alderson Broaddus in West Virginia before transferring to Division III Adrian College in Michigan during the spring of 2020.
Ross played three full seasons at Adrian College, averaging 81.1 strokes per round with a low round of 74 over 14 tournaments and 21 rounds played as a fifth-year senior in 2022-23. She earned three tournament victories and collected nine top-10 finishes during her final collegiate campaign. Ross set new school records for lowest 18-hole score (74) and 36-hole score (152 – 75-77) while helping to lead the Bulldogs to their first conference championship.
Ross is a 2018 graduate of Columbiana High School, where she became the first golfer in school history with two career hole-in-ones. She also lettered in softball for three years while helping lead the Clippers to a state runner-up finish in 2016. Ross earned her bachelor’s degree in social work from Adrian College in 2023.
Youngstown State will begin its 2024-25 season on Sept. 2 when it plays host to the YSU Kickoff at Mill Creek Golf Course in Boardman, Ohio.
