Home invasions are scary for everyone, it doesn’t matter who you are.
Even if you’re a professional tennis player or huge Internet personality.
Taylor Fritz and girlfriend Morgan Riddle were victims of an attempted home invasion while staying in an Airbnb in London.
Riddle posted details of the break-in through a series of posts on her Instagram story for all 406,000 followers to see.
She posted a photo of the entrance to the apartment, with the captions, “At 4am this morning Taylor and I wake up to someone trying to enter the code and break into the front door of the airbnb we’re staying at in London”.
Following that was a picture of the lock on the inside of the front door, only the lock was missing, with the caption: “I tell taylor to run and lock the secondary lock as they’re standing outside trying to get in and IT’S BEEN REMOVED???”
Riddle shared photos of Fritz holding a tennis racket, to use as a weapon in case the burglar got inside.
Riddle posted: “Of all potential weapons in the house this man grabs a racket”.
Luckily for the star couple, the intruder was not able to gain access inside the Airbnb.
Unfortunately this isn’t the first time something like this happened to Riddle while staying in an Airbnb
She posted that she reportedly woke up to a man standing over her while she was sleeping in 2017 and walked in on someone robbing their house over the summer.
Riddle went on to blast Airbnb.
“Airbnb is SO unsafe. They are intentionally targeted in many cities. Houses are nice for longer stays but please just stay in a hotel, especially if you are travelling alone or only with girls.
“I swore I’d never stay in one again after my past experiences and clearly didn’t learn my lesson.”
Hopefully this time around, Riddle has learned her lesson.
As for her boyfriend, Fritz looked ready to throw down with his tennis racket if it that’s what it had come to.
Fortunately it didn’t, and he can use his racket the way they were meant to be used.
It has been a pretty good year for Fritz on the court, as he reached his first ever Grand Slam final at the US Open in September, falling to the no.1 ranked player in the word, Jannik Sinner.
The 27-year-old had most recently competed in the Paris Masters, where he was eliminated by Brit Jack Draper in the second round earlier this week.
Hence the mini vacation in London for Fritz and Riddle.
It was a scary moment for the power couple, but fortunately no one was harmed and everything turned out to be okay.
Lesson learned.
