ABILENE, Texas – After 27 days off, the Texans are set to return to action Monday morning as they compete in the West Texas Classic hosted by I-20 rival Abilene Christian (ACU).
Last time the Purple and White was in action it saw them capture the Wigwam Classic title as they shot +30 (894). This marks the Texans’ second title of the 2024-25 campaign dating back to the fall when the Texans won their lone home event, the Texan Match Play after defeating Texas Southern 5-0 and Lamar 4-1. Tarleton State has now finished in the top-two of every event except one thus far this fall and spring.
Louise Depadt led the Purple and White at the Wigwam Preview as she notched her third top-five finish of her Texan career shooting +5 (221, 75-71-75). Mathilde Brogens leads the Texans overall in average 18 at 72.5 through 15 rounds thus far dating back to the fall.
The two-day classic will feature 54 holes with 36 coming on Monday followed by the final 18 Tuesday. Tee times are set for an 8 a.m. start on Monday followed by an 8:30 a.m. start on Tuesday.
The 17-team field includes Tarleton State, host Abilene Christian, Central Michigan, UT Arlington, Texas Southern, Oral Roberts, Dayton, Prairie View A&M, Drake, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Toledo, Bowling Green, South Dakota, Lamar, Incarnate Word, Oklahoma State and Stephen F. Austin.
The classic is set to take place on the North Course at the Abilene Country Club. The course is a par 70 that sits on 165 acres of rolling hills and lush surroundings.
Live scoring will be available for all three rounds of the tournament.
