MONTERREY, NUEVO LEON, MEXICO – Tarleton State Men’s Golf completed the fall portion of its season at the Monterrey Collegiate Classic Saturday.
The Texans had two top 20 finishes individually, with seniors Alvaro Huidobro and Carson Gallaher shooting 3-under-par to finish tied for 20th. Tarleton State finished 11th as a team with a 54-hole score of 873. North Dakota State won the team title with a 54-hole score of 838.
Huidobro shot 3-under par through his first 36 holes before shooting an even-par to close out his tournament. The Spaniard collected his second top 20 finish of the season and the sixth top 20 finish of his career.
Gallaher, competed in the Monterrey Collegiate Classic as an individual, came up with an eagle on day one of the event en route to a 3-under-par first round. He shot 2-under par in his next 54 holes before finishing the third round with an 18-hole score of 74.
Sophomore Juan Ballester collected his best finish of the fall as a Texan, finishing 35th with a 54-hole score of 220. Junior Cristobal Sepulveda finished just behind Ballester at 41st with a 54-hole score of 221.
Freshman Drew Ironside compiled a 54-hole score of 224 in his first event in the Tarleton State lineup. Fellow freshman Kellen Young had a 54-hole score of 225 in his fourth event for the Texans.
Tarleton State begins the spring portion of its season Feb. 10 at the Bentwater Intercollegiate in Montgomery, Texas.
