TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – For many, a new year means new fitness goals.
Momentum Fitness General Manager Landon Austin said the number of people coming into the gym doubles each new year. The key to accomplishing fitness goals, Austin said, is to remain consistent as the year progresses.
The most important way to remain consistent is to have a plan, the manager said. He suggested talking to a professional, staying motivated and setting realistic goals.
“There is no magic pill, so having a set game plan 100% is going to benefit you more,” he said. “And then having a professional to work with that’s going to able to push you to the right goals.”

Fitness trainers at Momentum Fitness said it is also important to have a healthy mindset when embarking on a fitness journey. Jason Sharpe said sometimes they see people start off for unhealthy reasons, like comparing themselves to others or trying to conform to pressure on social media.
“Finding out why is really the most important, it’s step 1,” he said.
The gym staff also reminded new gym rats to prioritize safety when trying new exercises or techniques.
