If there was a one word limit on how to describe the first half between Miami and Syracuse, it would be fireworks.
The shotmaking between both these teams were at a high level, and there were rarely stretches of time where either team would go down the floor and not put points on the board.
Although Syracuse is down, they certainly are playing better offensively than they have in recent games. Eddie Lampkin has been a force so far with a team-high 12 points which include a perfect six of six from the charity stripe.
Chris Bell also was a major contributor off the bench with 12 points In addition, the team shot just under 50% from the floor and 100% from the line.
But the Hurricanes have the lead for a reason.
Led by Matthew Cleveland with 15 points at the half, Miami has been able to get whatever they wanted offensively as well. They also shot over 55% from the field and over 40% from beyond the arc.
Whoever wins this game will be the team who strings stops together down the stretch while keeping their offense afloat.
Naheem McLeod crashes the offensive glass and goes back up with the two-handed flush.
To end the half, Lucas Taylor knocks down a corner three that was all net.
2:17 remaining: Miami 39, Syracuse 32

Syracuse (11-13, 5-8 ACC) heads down to the sunshine state to take on Miami (5-18, 1-11).
The Orange have a firm lead on the all-time series against the Hurricanes with a 21-12 advantage. In the lone game the two teams played a season ago, it was Syracuse who came out on top in a 72-69 victory at the JMA Wireless Dome.
Prior to that victory, Miami had rattled off the last three straight victories in the series. Playing in Coral Gables typically has been a toss up, with Syracuse having the slight 10-9 lead in those contests.
The last time out for Syracuse was a triple overtime thriller against Boston College on Saturday at home. Despite many missed free throws during the game and missed assignments defensively, the Orange were able to come through in the final overtime period to win 95-86.
J.J. Starling led the way with 28 points to lead all scorers. Eddie Lampkin chipped in with a 14-point, 18-rebound double-double.
Miami’s last game was an 88-78 loss on the road against Louisville. Leading the way for the Hurricanes was A.J. Staton-McCray with 22 points. Not too far behind was Matthew Cleveland who had 21 points.
One Thing To Keep An Eye On: A Must Win For Syracuse
The Miami Hurricanes hold the dubious distinction of being at the bottom of the recently expanded 18-team ACC. With only five wins total this year and a single conference win to their name, this provides Syracuse a golden opportunity.
Winning this game would help bring Syracuse that much closer to winning out the rest of the way. Out of the seven remaining games on the schedule, only two games are against opponents with a conference record above .500. Winning at least five of those games, if not all seven, would give Syracuse a proper shot of making a run in the ACC tournament.
