Instead, JJ Starling led the way with 21 points, followed suit by Eddie Lampkin’s fourth double-double of the season with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Chris Bell and Lucas Taylor also reached at least 10 points against Georgia Tech Tuesday night.
Syracuse will play without Freeman again against Boston College, the program announced pregame.
The Orange have yet to win a road game this year, dropping their previous contests against Tennessee, Notre Dame and Florida State.
Boston College also played Georgia Tech in its most recent game, falling to the Yellow Jackets, 85-64, on Jan. 4.
The Eagles’ Chad Venning scored 19 points in the loss, followed by Elijah Strong, who scored 16 points. Every other Boston College player scored seven points or less in the 19-point loss.
Donald Hand Jr. is Boston College’s top scorer this year, averaging 14.3 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per game. He’d made 24 triples this year, shooting 33% from the arc.
Syracuse’s rebounding efforts are one of the best in the conference, averaging 39.1 per game. It’s led to a plus-4 margin, and five of the last six games included at least 10 offensive rebounds.
Continuing that effort will be a key aspect of Syracuse’s game plan against the Eagles. Boston College averages just two rebounds per game less than Syracuse, so limiting the Eagles’ second chance opportunities will prevent Hand Jr. and co. from receiving more opportunities on home court.
