FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood men’s golf earned its 16th straight Outstanding Team Academic Award from the Golf Coaches Association of America. The Lancers have earned the award in each season it has been presented by the GCAA.
In addition, Scott Jordan and Nick Rakes earned GCAA Cobalt All-America Scholar honors.
The team award is presented to teams that post a GPA above 3.0, which the men’s golf team cleared once again.
Meanwhile, GCAA Cobalt All-America Scholar honors are given to nominees that play in at least half of their team’s competitive rounds and have a stroke average under 76. Golfers must also maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2, and they must be a sophomore, junior, or senior both athletically and academically.
For the men’s golf team, the awards are yet another feather in the cap for the program that has continued to succeed under head coach Kevin Fillman.
Longwood will begin its fall season in September with a trip to the Joe Feaganes Invitational on Monday, September 9 for the first day of a two-day tournament.
