BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell University head women’s golf coach John Crooks has announced the signing of Linn Svedlund to an athletics grant-in-aid. The Swedish standout will join the Fighting Camel program as a freshman in August 2025.
” It is exciting to welcome Linn Svedlund to our program,” said Crooks, who has guided the Camels to 11 NCAA berths in the last 12 seasons. “She comes to Campbell after receiving praise from several people familiar with Campbell Golf. I really like her athleticism, her swing, her sound fundamentals, and her dedication to her game. Linn brings the competitive attitude needed for her to help the Camels win more championships.”
Svedlund will join a Fighting Camel program that finished the fall season ranked No. 47 among the nation’s Division I teams after winning one event and finishing as runner-up three times.
A native of Uppsala, Sweden, Svedlund has one victory and seven top 10 finishes in World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR) events. She won the Swedish Invitacional GolfTech tournament in Spain this year and finished in second place at the Stenson Sunesson Junior Challenge.
Ranked sixth among Swedish U18 girls, Svedlund finished third at the Angso International Junior Masters Invitational as well as the Swedish Junior Tour Division 1 #2 Örebro event.
Svedlund will join a long list of Scandinavian standouts to compete for the Camels. Since 2017, Campbell players who are natives of Sweden have been named conference rookie of the year four times – Desiree Andersson (Hollviken – 2017), Isabell Ekstrom (Uppsala – 2018), Isabella Hahne (Kungsbacka – 2023), Alicia Olsson (Amal – 2024). Annelie Sjoholm (Vasteras) was conference player of the year in 2017 and 2018 while Anna Nordfors (Gothenburg) earned the honor in 2021.
On the men’s side, two-time Big South golfer of the year Jesper Svensson (2015-19) will join the PGA TOUR for the 2025 season after earning DP World Tour Rookie of the Year honors and finishing 10th in the Race to Dubai standings. Pontus Nyholm, the 2021 Big South golfer of the year, turned professional in 2022 and finished 40th on the 2024 Korn Ferry Tour point list.
The Campbell women open their 2025 spring season Feb. 24-25 with the Daniel Island Invitational, hosted by the College of Charleston at the Daniel Island Club in Charleston, S.C.
