Warren Moon compares Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes before their Super Bowl rematch
Florida State football will be well-represented in Super Bowl LIX on Sunday.
While all eyes will be on superstars like Patrick Mahomes, Saquon Barkley and Jalen Hurts, both the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs are split with FSU alumni.
For 13 straight seasons, at least one former FSU player is represented and 43rd out of the 59 Super Bowls all-time.
The Chiefs, making their fifth Super Bowl appearance in the last seven seasons, have defensive tackles Derrick Nnadi and Fabien Lovett Sr. The Eagles have defensive end Josh Sweat and rookie wide receiver Johnny Wilson.
Out of the four former Seminoles, Nnadi has already triumphed with three Super Bowl titles in his NFL career.
According to Seminoles.com, if the Chiefs win and Nnadi earns his fourth Super Bowl ring, he will join former Pittsburgh Steelers DB JT Thomas for having four Super Bowl wins.
Also, only 37 players in NFL history have played on four Super Bowl-winning teams, and only three college teams have multiple alumni who have four SB titles in their NFL careers.
Super Bowl LIX will kick off at 6:30 p.m. on FOX at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Nnadi is on his fifth Super Bowl title run in his seventh season with Kansas City. While at FSU, he was a three-year letterman and an All-ACC performer.
The Chiefs drafted Nnadi in the third round in the 2018 NFL Draft. He won Super Bowls LIV, LVII, and LVIII with the Chiefs and appeared in Super Bowl LV.
Lovett is in his rookie season with the Chiefs. The two-time ACC defensive lineman is a practice squad member after going undrafted. Lovett was FSU’s team captain in his senior year.
Sweat is making his second Super Bowl appearance in three seasons for the Philadelphia Eagles. His last appearance was Super Bowl LVII.
In his three-year career with the Seminoles, Sweat registered 138 tackles, 29 tackles for loss, 14. 5 sacks. He was part of the 2016 FSU team that won the Orange Bowl.
Sweat was selected in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Eagles. In seven seasons, the 2021 Pro Bowl defensive end recorded 252 tackles, 57 tackles for loss and 45.5 sacks.
Wilson is among the few players making a Super Bowl appearance in their rookie year. After two productive years at FSU, the 6-foot-7 receiver was selected in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
He has started five of the 19 games played. Wilson is a two-time All-ACC performer and was remembered for his record-breaking performance in the 2022 Cheez-It Bowl when he led the Seminoles with 202 receiving yards to defeat Oklahoma.
