PLAINWELL — The Sturgis golf team continues to have an impressive season.
On Wednesday, the Lady Trojans headed north for another Wolverine Conference jamboree, the eighth one officially, at Lake Doster. It was the final jamboree of the season in the conference and both Sturgis and Otsego went into the contest tied atop the standings with 48 points.
Sturgis posted a score of 182 on the day, finishing 17 shots ahead of Otsego’s 199 (fourth) to finish atop the regular season standings. The jamboree win for Sturgis was the team’s fourth in a row.
The conference tournament finals will be held next Wednesday at Pine View Golf Course hosted by Three Rivers. On Wednesday, Vicksburg finished second with 185, Plainwell was third (186). Three Rivers shot a team score of 210 to finish sixth.

Madison Webb led Sturgis, she fired a round of 40 on the day to finish second individually. Piper Sterling was next with a 43 for fourth individually and Mia Martinez shot a round of 48. Mazie Sterling’s round was 51, Gabby Netke shot 59 and Ximena Medina shot 60.
Shooting the individual low round and earning medalist honors was Ayla Jaeger of Plainwell with a 37.
Three Rivers was led by Maggie Gose with a career-best 49. Delaney Harper carded a round of 52 (personal best) and Elizabeth Oestrike shot 53. Ashton Ware added a 56.
On Monday, the Trojans hosted the Sturgis Bank Invitational at Island Hills. Sturgis shot a team score of 371, finishing behind St. Joseph (344) for the title. Stevensville-Lakeshore came in third position at 373.
Webb shot a score of 79 to win medalist honors. Piper Sterling shot an 89 (eighth) and Martinez finished with a round of 94. Netke shot 109, Mazie Sterling shot 110 and Carmona added a 118.
Three Rivers placed third in the “Orange Division” of the Sturgis Bank Invitational with a team score of 429. Every Wildcat posted a personal best score.
Ashton Ware led with a 102 and Maggie Gose shot 106. Elizabeth Oestrike added a 108 and Delaney Harper’s 113 completed the team score. Cassandra Gillette was close behind with a 114 and Angeleena Ham made her 18-hole debut with a score of 141.
Sturgis also played in the Coldwater Invitational last week, but it was halted with just four holes remaining because of weather. Webb was sitting in third position at the time out of the 93 golfers.
