SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — A recent WalletHub study named Salt Lake City one of the best cities for jobs in 2025, ranking it 19 among 180 cities.
The study evaluated factors such as job market strength, socioeconomic environment, and employment opportunities.
Salt Lake City stands out due to the presence of highly-rated companies that continue to attract a strong workforce.
Neighboring West Valley City also made the list, landing at number 39 despite a lower concentration of top companies.
“People from West Valley City are likely commuting to Salt Lake City to work at these top companies,” said WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo.
Despite its high job availability, Salt Lake City ranked low in terms of worker engagement, placing 130 in that category.
Lupo explained that engaged workers are defined as those who are actively involved, enthusiastic and committed to their roles.
The study indicates it’s not all rosy for many workers in Salt Lake.
“It sounds like they’re just there for the paycheck,” Lupo said.
Despite a great rating for worker commute times, Salt Lake City ranked poorly in key areas such as housing affordability and safety, with crime rates contributing to the low safety score.
Lupo emphasized that potential job seekers everywhere should look past the job offer and consider cost of living and quality of life when considering job relocation.
