Streamer Shroud has been hosting a month long charity streaming event called “Fragathon”, which is intended to raise money for St. Jude’s Children’s Children’s Hospital. While this sounds like a noble endeavor, Shroud has unfortunately come under fire for taking an event sponsorship from card gambling web site Boxed.gg.
Boxed.gg is an online gambling site featuring Pokémon and other trading card games. Through the web site, users can spend real money for a currency called “Gems”, which can then be used to gamble on opening random sets of Pokémon cards.

Many commenters online have criticized Shroud for promoting the web site, as it seems heavily designed to appeal to younger kids. In addition, some people have reported incidents of Boxing.gg taking an extremely long time to deliver the physical cards won by users, or in some cases not delivering the cards at all.
As of now, Shroud has not responded to the backlash, nor does it seem like Boxing.gg will be removed as a sponsor from the Fragathon event. You can check out this Reddit thread to read more reactions from viewers and fans.
